The selection of senior defensive tackle Todd Peat to the Army All-American Bowl and its elite group of All-American high school football players was formally announced by bowl game representatives.
Peat will be part of the nation’s top 90 football players in this annual East versus West match-up televised live on NBC Jan. 8 from the Alamodome in San Antonio.
“I’m so blessed and happy that I get to represent the Army and do something for those people who do so much for our country,” said Peat. “I am very humbled that I was selected as one of the best of the best.”
It is a time-honored tradition, according to Peat, that players announce their scholarship commitments during the halftime of this All-American Bowl game. Yes, he has narrowed down his choices, and no, he will not announce his decision until the day of the game.
Peat said he is busy making official visits and fulfilling his obligations for the All-American Bowl. For instance, he took his official visit to ASU this weekend and then spent Sunday at the NASCAR races at Phoenix International Raceway where he was introduced and received his official All-American Bowl jersey at a pre-race celebration.
“It was a great honor to receive my jersey at such a huge event as NASCAR,” said Peat. “I’ve never been to a NASCAR race before and it wasn’t anything like I expected. It was tons of fun.”
