Chandler’s Sunset branch library is accepting signups for a series of six free weekly computer classes run by volunteer Intel employees.
The series, which starts Jan. 29, will be hosted at the downtown library and runs consecutive Tuesdays through March 5.
According to library manager Brenda Brown, the program gives adult learners the opportunity to improve their social and economic self-sufficiency through digital literacy. Class materials use proven adult learning techniques to teach practical and relevant skills to people with little or no prior computer experience.
The program, called Intel Easy Steps, teaches participants basic computer skills that are relevant and useful, both personally and professionally. Participants will learn to use word processing, do simple calculations, search the Internet, and create and send email. No previous computer experience is required.
Classes are free of charge but space is limited. Interested participants should register for the entire series in advance at the Sunset branch or any other Chandler library location. Signups also are available online at www.chandlerlibrary.org.
Class hours are 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Information: 480-782-2800. The downtown Chandler library is at 22 S. Delaware St.
