HOOPIN’ IT UP

hula_BRH_0726Kids at the Tempe Public Library gave new life to a ’50s pastime with a modern-day spin on the classic Hula Hoop.
The youngsters were part of the library’s summer reading program, which extends the boundaries of conventional reading to
some hands-on fun. On this day, four members of the Valley-based hula_BRH_0527Heady Hoop Tribe performed for the group in one of the
library’s downstairs multi-purpose rooms. The summer program, which includes Didgeridoo Down Under on June 19 and
Ronald McDonald: Literacy and Manners on June 26, is still open for enrollment. For information visit tempe.gov/library
