Hometown fan favorite and Arizona State golf graduate Jon Rahm made his seventh start at TPC Scottsdale’s Waste Management Phoenix Open Feb. 9 through 12. Often known as ‘The People’s Open’ or ‘The Greatest and Greenest Show on Grass,’ it has built the reputation of being a major social gathering centered around golf’s biggest names, including Rahm. The 28-year-old and No. 1 in the Official World Golf Rankings dueled with Scottie Scheffler and Nick Taylor to earn his first victory at the Phoenix Open, but fell short on Sunday. Rahm finished -3 in the final round, -14 overall, behind Scottie Scheffler, who became the first to repeat in Scottsdale since 2016-17. While Rahm came up short, he carried hundreds of rowdy and passionate fans with him over the course of the tournament. Rahm reclaimed his World No. 1 status after his win at the Genesis Invitational on Feb. 19.
