Aztecs Boys Basketball finding rhythm at midpoint of season

The Corona del Sol Aztecs (8-6) held on for a commanding 58-43 victory over the Chandler Wolves. The Aztecs and Wolves exchanged baskets in the game’s opening minutes, but the scrappy defense of Corona closed the door early for Chandler. Senior Crew Swearingen scored the first buckets for the Aztecs with back to back 3-pointers, fueling the fans and bench. Swearingen paced the Aztecs with 22 points, including six 3-pointers. He shot 53 percent from the field and eclipsed six steals. Senior Bo Dolinsek scored 12 points and led the team with eight rebounds. Corona stretched its lead in the opening quarter and maintained it through the remainder of the game, despite the Wolves’ surge in the third quarter to pull with 12 points. This was the Aztecs’ third consecutive win as they hit the midway point of the season.
