Corona del Sol High School’s KEY Club, a volunteer-based, Kiwanis-affiliated organization, will host Courage to Care Day on Saturday, Nov. 14, inviting community members to help make crafts for patients at Phoenix Children’s Hospital.
Crafts will include sock puppets, painted pillowcases, paper fortune cookies and more. The event will be held in cooperation with Beads of Courage, a program that benefits children coping with serious illnesses. Participants will have an opportunity to donate to this organization as will by making courage clips. This part of the project will be held the same day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Fees Middle School. KEY Club, acronym for Kiwanis Educating Youth, conducted a similar event in February, at which the members raised more than $500 for Beads of Courage and made hundreds of crafts to donate to the hospital.
This time, said member Anita Daryanani, the club, expects to help Courage to Care Day to expand even further because of their new partnership with Fees’ National Junior Honor Society.
Corona teacher Sheryl Braun is the school’s KEY Club sponsor.
