Brooke Nuneviller and Mady Noble, two of Corona’s best indoor volleyball players, played together to win the first Division I State Beach Volleyball Championship Pairs title on May 10 at Mesquite High School.
Corona’s girls JV softball team had a recordsetting year with an undefeated 18-0 season. Even more remarkable is the ages of the players on the team with seven freshman having prominent roles.
Corona’s track and field teams competed in several meets in March with athletes from both the boys and girls team attempting to improve their times in the running events and heights or distances in the field events to qualify for the state meet in May.
Corona started the Boras Classic on fire, March 14, defeating Skyridge, from Lehi, UT, utilizing the 10-run mercy rule when junior Bryan Kalmer’s homerun gave the Aztecs a 10-run lead or a score of 11-1 ending the game at the 6th inning.
After losing 13 seniors to graduation and only returning seven players from last season’s team, it was assumed that this spring would most like be a rebuilding year for Corona’s baseball program. Wait--not so fast.
